10-Day Dominican Republic Itinerary

Add the north coast — beaches, the capital, whales at Samaná, and Cabarete's surf and wind.

Ten days is enough to stop rushing. Keep the classics — Punta Cana for the beach, Santo Domingo for the history — then follow the coast north to Samaná's peninsula and Puerto Plata's amber shore, where Cabarete turns the trade winds into a sport. Four stops on one long northward arc, no backtracking, and enough time in each to actually unpack.

How to read this: it's one good way to spend 10 days, not the only way. We show the shape of each day — the two highlights worth building around. The planner fills in every meal and a night out, adds a budget breakdown, and swaps it all to your pace, budget and taste. For the drives between stops, see our drive-times guide.
